Lawrence G. “Larry” Shepard, 63, of Anderson, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Dec. 4, 2014 at I.U. Simon Cancer Center, Indianapolis, following a valiant five year battle with kidney cancer.
He was born July 2, 1951, Providence, RI, the son of the late Albert and Dorothy (Engel) Shepard.
Larry graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1969. On June 29, 1974, he married Linda Throesch at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He worked as an electrician at General Motors for 36.5 years, retiring July 1, 2008.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Shepard; his children, Julie and Dylan Shepard, both of Indianapolis; and his brothers, Peter (Mary Lou) Shepard of Indianapolis and Bradley Shepard of Wentzville, MO.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his nephew Jonathan Barrett Shepard.
Services will be 6 p.m. Monday, at the Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 East 53rd St, Anderson, with Bishop William Smalley officiating. Cremation will follow.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Larry was able to donate only his corneas, in spite of his disease, as he was a staunch believer in the wonderful gift of organ donation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the I.U. Simon Cancer Center for Kidney Cancer Research.
