Lawrence George Gresh, 95, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Anderson and former resident of Gary. He was born September 26, 1925 in Gary to the late John & Barbara (Svirbley) Gresh. Lawrence was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army having retired from the U.S. Army Reserve as Chief Warrant Officer. He also retired after serving as police officer in Gary for 20 years and then later retired from U.S. Steel before moving to Anderson. He was a member the Gary F.O.P. Ben K. Perry Lodge #61, the Merrillville VFW Post #1563 and a longtime member of St. Joseph’s the Worker Catholic Church in Gary. He is survived by his children, Gloria K. Gresh of Terre Haute & Lawrence (wife, Susan) Gresh of Greenfield; grandsons, Evan (wife, Amber Marie) Gresh & Nathan (wife, Kara Maureen) Gresh and great grandchildren, Emilia, Elise, Clara, Edward, Maximilian, Lily, & Ambrose Gresh. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Gresh; and brother, William Gresh. Graveside Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, at McCray Cemetery, Wilkinson. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m., with a small prayer service at 1:30 at Condo & St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Wilkinson. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
