Larry Paul James, 68, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018, at St. Vincent Anderson Hospital following a brief illness. He was born May 19, 1950, in Anderson and lived in the area his entire life. He was a member of the Anderson High School Class of 1968. Larry married Cathy Phillips on November 1, 1969. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, he worked at Delphi for thirty years, retiring in 2001. He was a lifetime member of UAW Local #662. He coached baseball in both Little League and Babe Ruth League. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling, as evidenced by his participation in various leagues throughout the years. He was also Past President of the Anderson Men’s Bowling Association. Larry is survived by his wife, Cathy James; children, Tisha O’Neill of Franklin and Toby James of Anderson; grandchildren, Katie and Abigail O’Neill and Tyler and Alexis James; brother, Ron (Judy) James of Anderson; sister-in-law, Carol Phillips of Anderson; and two nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary (Smith) James; mother-in-law, Mildred Phillips; and brother-in-law Bernus Phillips. Services will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Larry’s brother, Ron James officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison County Shrine Club, 2419 White Street, Anderson, IN 46012.
