Larry Lee Hale, 81, of Anderson, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018. He was born April 30, 1937, in Warsaw to the late, Palmer A. & Wilma F. (Andrews) Hale. Larry graduated from Warsaw High School in 1955. He was employed by Dalton’s Foundry & Sun Metal Products. An opportunity presented to him by sponsor, Mr. Forrest Croop, to begin a four-year apprenticeship as Tool & Die Maker at Delco Remy. During his career he worked in Design & Experimental equipment making, Tool Room Supervisor, Applications Engineering, Process Plant Engineering, and retired in 1992 as a Senior Project Engineer. He continued his career consulting for special assignments with Continental Design & Rapid Design. This allowed him to travel to Georgia, Portugal, France, & Mexico. Larry advised and taught at Junior Achievement and the Apprentice School. He also substituted at IVY Tech in Post Graduate Studies. He attended New Horizons United Methodist Church, where he helped his wife with projects. He was a member of SAL, Middletown American Legion, Anderson Fraternal Order of Elks #209, Warsaw Fraternal Moose Lodge #260, Fellowship Masonic Lodge F. & A.M. #681. He also served on Middletown Library Board & the St. Vincent Advisory Board. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 61 years, Doris “Dori” (Hartman) Hale; children, Lee E. (Artie) Granger, Laura L. Hardacre, & Michael A. (Sheila) Hale; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and special pet, Bandit. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Allen Hale; and son-in-law, Curtis E. Hardacre. Services will at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, with Pastor Brad Hensley officiating. Burial will be at Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Middletown Library or the New Horizons Methodist Church Building Fund.
