Larry Craig Dodd

Larry Craig Dodd, 82, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Providence of Anderson, after an extended illness with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born September 29, 1938 in Anderson, IN to Gerald Sr. and Mary Ruth (Staton) Dodd. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1957, where he played varsity basketball & football. During that time, he drove a delivery truck for KB Flowers and worked for Hoppie’s & Rheams’ Flower shops. After graduation he married and moved to Florida where he continued to work in the floral industry. He eventually moved back to Anderson, where he owned The Yellow Butterfly Antique Shop. He co-owned Dodd’s House of Flowers with his parents and brother. He then worked at Delco Remy in security, before retiring in 1998. After retirement, he enjoyed golfing and traveling, especially to Branson & Pigeon Forge. He was a long-time member of Central Christian Church. He was a past member of the Madison County Shrine Club. Larry is survived by his wife of 21 years, Phyllis; son, Jeffrey Dodd; daughter, Sherolyn Pardini; granddaughters, Logan (husband, Joshua) Frigo of Nashville, TN & Remington Pardini, USN; stepdaughters, Cynthia (husband, Rev. Wayne) Shelksohn of Peoria, IL, Catherine (husband, Gregory) Blackwell of Louisville, KY, & Caren (husband, David) Snyder of Roanoke, IN; step-grandchildren, Aaron (wife, Elaine) Shelksohn of Bloomington, IL, Stephanie Shelksohn of Champaign, IL, Jason (wife, Tiffany) Blackwell of Louisville, KY, Jordan (wife, Allyson) Wise of Naples, FL, and Jenna Wise of Indianapolis; great grandchildren, Chloe Blackwell & Anna Sanks; brother & sister-in-law, Gerald Jr. & Marilyn Dodd; sister & brother-in-law, Phyllis & John Lollar; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Norma & Jim Newcomer; special friends, Tom & Beverly Lee; and several nieces & nephews. Also surviving is the mother of his children, Mary Carraway. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Sr. & Mary Ruth (Staton) Dodd; sister, Barbara Baker; and his previous wife, Carolyn. Services are entrusted to Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-1pm on Tuesday, January 19, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church or the Parkinson’s Foundation. Due to the state restrictions regarding COVID-19, guests are required to wear face coverings and practice CDC guidelines/social distancing at all services.
