Lannie L. Gardner, 72, of Pendleton, Indiana passed away September 4, 2016 at Rawlins House in Pendleton. He was born July 7, 1944 in Anderson, Indiana and was a lifelong Pendleton resident.Lannie retired from Delco Remy in 1992 following 30 years of service. He was involved in the towing business for over 30 years for different companies including his own, Lannie’s Towing from 1990 to 2000.He was a 1962 graduate of Pendleton High School and was a US Army veteran serving in Vietnam.Lannie was very involved in Go Kart racing for many years. He was an avid NASCAR and Motorsports fan, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.Survivors include children, Kimberly Parrish of Jefferson, Georgia; Chris Gardner and Jeff Kuhns both of Pendleton; grandchildren, Alex Parrish, Zachary Parrish, Chaston Gardner, Benjamin Kuhns and Madelyn Kuhns; Ginny, Bekah, Kai and Nicholas whom he loved as his own; brothers, Larry Gardner and Leland Gardner; sister, Linda Wright; former wife, Candy (Smith) Small; several nieces, several nephews; and many special friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Verna Vee (Whisler) Gardner; wife, Vicki (Chapman) Jolly; and son, Mikie L. Gardner.Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton, Indiana 46064 with Brian Wilson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton.Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Lahm Chapel.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pendleton Fire Department Antique Fire Truck Restoration Fund, P.O. Box 230, Pendleton, IN 46064.
