Kenneth Wayne “Ken” Gibbs Jr.

Kenneth Wayne Gibbs Jr., 67, of Middletown, passed away September 13, 2023, after a brief illness. Ken was born in Belleville, Illinois on February 18, 1956, to Kenneth W. Gibbs Sr. and Barbara (Lockridge) Gibbs. Ken graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1974. After graduation he enlisted and proudly served the United States Navy from 1974 to 1978.  Ken went on to obtain an associate degree in heating, cooling and construction from Ivy Tech. On March 26, 1982, he married Holly Dawn (Boys) Gibbs, and they began a family Ken cherished.

He began a career utilizing his degree, working in the commercial heating, cooling and refrigeration industry. Ken owned and operated Gibbs Heating and Cooling for 10 years before going to work for Deaton Mechanics.  Ken enjoyed the outdoors and all that it offered.  He spent a lot of his time hunting, fishing, and camping. Ken was a member of the National Rifle Association.  Along with the outdoors, Ken enjoyed watching sports. He was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals!  Of course, his favorite sports he attended were of his grandchildren, often as the grandkid taxi. Ken loved his family time, especially the family dinners. He also shared his faith as he attended the Middletown Nazarene Church.

Ken is survived by his wife; sister, Brenda (Jerry) Stevens of Sulphur Springs; sons, Mark Gibbs of Cowan and James (Jess) Gibbs of Greenfield; daughter, Candace (Travis) Bond of Middletown; grandchildren, Michael Wayne (Alex) Reed, Zach Hinder, Kaelie Kinder, Skylar Gibbs, Jackson Gibbs, Keegan Cashe, Kadyn Cashe, and Jedidiah Bond.  Many nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Sylvia (Wayne) Scott.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held Sunday, September 17, 2023, 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service and Crematory, 515 E. 53^rd St., Anderson, IN. The funeral service will be Monday, September 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. A burial will immediately follow the service at Miller Cemetery, 5954 W. County Road 850 N., Middletown, IN 47356
