Keith A. Smethers

Keith A. Smethers, 71, former Lapel resident, passed away Monday, April 28, 2008, at Maple Park Village in Westfield following an extended illness.
He was born on January 9, 1937, in Lapel, Indiana to Ralph and M. Louise (Huntzinger) Smethers.
Keith was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel. He enjoyed his time spent during winters with his parents in Florida.
He is survived by two sisters, Eloise Hunter of Lapel and Irma (husband, Jack) Hughes of Anderson; one brother-in-law, Inos Russell of Anderson; one sister-in-law, Katie Smethers of Lapel; five nephews, Jim (Terri) Prather, Paul Hunter, Dave Smethers, Bill (wife, Kim) Smethers, and Steve (wife, Pam) Smethers; two nieces, Janet (husband, James) Christopherson, and Kellee (husband, Timothy) Hays; and several great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Smethers; one sister, Rachel Russell; a niece, Connie Smethers; a nephew, Dennis Russell; and two brothers-in-law, Karl Prather and Hugh Hunter.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
