Kay Dixon

January 19, 1940 — April 10, 2011

Kay Dixon, 71, Lapel, passed peacefully into the arms of her loving Savior on Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Community Hospital of Anderson following a sudden illness.
She was born on January 19, 1940, in Rogersville, Indiana to Joe and Alice (Stanley) Roberson.
She graduated from Anderson High School in 1958 and received a BA in education from Anderson College in 1968.
Over the course of her eventful life, she was a teacher, a librarian, a social worker, and a customer service representative for a local publishing company.
She was a dedicated member of Ford Street United Methodist Church and a past leader of the Methodist Youth Fellowship. A long-time precinct committeeman for the Republican Party, she was active in local politics and was a member of the American Legion Post 212 Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed being with her family and playing bridge and euchre with her friends
She is survived by her son, Lloyd E. Dixon, II of Lapel; one daughter, Becky (husband, Stephen) Cline of Indianpolis; one grandson, Kevin (wife, Emilee) Cline of Indianapolis; and one sister, Joan (husband, Howard) Wile of Anderson. Other suvivors include nephews, Kip (wife, Linda) Wile, Skip (wife, Luann) Wile, and Jay (wife, Kathleen) Wile; great-nieces, Kristal (husband, Collin) McCorkle, Kara Wile, Dawn (husband, Jeremiah) Strunc, Danielle Wile, Melissa Jarman, Lynn (husband, Marcelino) Hernandez; great-nephews, Jordan Meister-Wile, Michael Jarman; great-great-nieces, Kennedy and Kerrigan McCorkle, Makayla Espinosa; and a special friend, Rick Woodward.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd Eugene "Scamp" Dixon; and a nephew, Vincent E. Wile.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, April 18, 2011, at Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel with Pastor Steve Holdzkom officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Summit Cemetery, Mount Summit.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
