Katrina Heather Owens (38) and her late-term son, Phin Douglass Owens, passed quietly at home from a long illness on May 4, 2023. Katrina grew up a happy, active, strong, young lady who loved going to the beach, spending time with those she loved, and riding horses both at her grandparent’s farm for fun and showing, where she was once crowned Pinto Princess of Indiana. In addition to her equestrian pursuits, Katrina also excelled at gymnastics in school, and ultimately became a gymnastic instructor, coach, and judge. Kat also never met an animal she didn’t try to train or save, always willing to jump into a dangerous situation to potentially preserve the life of numerous cats, dogs, squirrels, sheep, goats, and even bats.
She is survived by two daughters, the lights of her life, Piper Jade and Paisley Sue Yeary. Katrina is additionally survived by her father, Bryce Owens (Steffanie); siblings, Jonathan Owens, Amanda Matlock-Singer (Robert), Zachary Johnson (Greg), Faith (Geovanni) Quebrado, and Charity (Judah Doupe) Howell; her aunts, Amanda Blackketter (Robert) and Marilyn (Ben) Kennedy; her uncles, Angus Owens (Stephanie), Steven Mark Harless (Sue) and Luke Harless (Anne); as well as several other extended family members. Katrina was predeceased by her mother Sara Harless and grandparents George Douglass and Carolyn Sue Owens, as well as Loris and Mary Lou Harless.
The visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Wilson St. Pierre-Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton, 46064. The funeral ceremony will begin at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery.
