Katherine Fisher

Katherine Fisher, 97, Lapel, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Community Northview Care Center in Anderson following an extended illness. She was born on December 21, 1917, in Greencastle, Indiana to Percy and Lorene (Cook) Duncan. She attended Anderson High School and had lived in Lapel for over 40 years. Katherine was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church and Circle 1 at the church. She enjoyed painting ceramics; camping with her family and was an avid reader. She is survived by three children, Linda (husband, Bill) Hormell Lapel, Robert (wife, Lynn) Fisher of Anderson, and Elizabeth (husband, Steve) Reddick of Anderson; eleven grandchildren, James (wife, Penny) Hormell, Mike Hormell, David Hormell, Shelley (husband, Curtis) Chapman, Rob (wife, Claudia) Fisher, Teresa (husband, Barry) Retherford, Angie (husband, Mark) Jones, Amanda (husband, Jason) Twerberg, Tracie (husband, Brad) Davis, Christie Epperley, and Trish (husband, Keith) Jones; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon Fisher; and a sister, Ruthann Bartley. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev.s Neal Brown and Steve Holdzkom officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Lapel Food Pantry, P. O. Box 626, Lapel, Indiana 46051 or the Lapel-Stony Creek Township Fire Territory, 8871 West 200 South, Lapel, Indiana 46051. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and aides who cared for Katherine at Community Northview and her in-home caregivers, Lori Roberts, Shonda Phillips, Becky Myers, and Sharon Beamer.
