Karen Armstrong, 65, passed away March 27, 2019 at her home after a battle with cancer. She was born August 30, 1953 in Clarinda, Iowa and was a resident of Pendleton, Indiana. Prior to moving to Pendleton, she lived in Connersville, Indiana for over 40 years. Karen received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Ball State University and taught math in the Fayette County School Corporation for over 30 years. She loved teaching, travel, and mission work. She visited several countries and her time in Kenya had a profound impact on her life. She had a strong faith and lived to serve others and share the Gospel. Karen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and was often called upon to read to them in her favorite chair. She had a special talent for making the best pumpkin pie, crocheting baby blankets in record time, and always finding a great deal.She loved and served her friends and family so well. Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Bruce Armstrong; children, Jessica (Jeremy) Metz of Fishers, and Samantha (Andrew) Hodges of Pendleton; grandchildren Eli and Bennett Metz, and Tenley and Graham Hodges. She was preceded in death by her parents, Winford and Reba (Owens) Lee. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Fall Creek Christian Church, 1102 West 700 South, Pendleton, Indiana.
