Junko (Saiki) "June" VanBuskirk, 81, Glen Allen, VA went to be with the Lord on August 19, 2014, following a 4 year battle with cancer. Junko was born on February 11, 1933 in Fukuoka, Japan. Her mother was Yachiyo Saiki and her father was Kaico Saiki. Junko Saiki married Edward Paul VanBuskirk in 1956 in Toyko, Japan and they settled in Anderson. She worked at O-I Brockway Glass in Lapel, IN for 28 years and she never missed a day of work. She was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church and the Frankton American Legion Auxiliary for 36 years. Junko lived in Anderson, IN until the summer of 2010, when she went to live with her son, Edgar in Glen Allen, VA. She is survived by three children, Alan VanBuskirk, Debbie VanBuskirk Beal, and son Edgar VanBuskirk and David Whaley; five grandchildren, Hope (husband, Rod) Foley, Amber Ward, Andrew Shuster, Matt Shuster, and Brandon VanBuskirk; and several great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Tom Lutz officiating. Burial will follow in Elwood Cemetery, Elwood. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm Friday, August 22, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Junko would like to pay a special thank you to Pastor Tom Lutz and all the other members of the Edgewood Baptist Church, who became her family who she loved dearly. She would also like to thank Dr. Elke Friedman.
