Judy F. Martin

Judy F. (Cowan) Martin, 74, of Pendleton, passed away May 16, 2018 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. She was born June 22, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to Anderson in 1974. She resided in Pendleton since 1976. Judy was a 1965 graduate of Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati as a Registered Nurse. During her nursing career she served at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Mariemont, Ohio, St. John’s Hospital in Anderson, Mercy Hospital in Elwood, St. Francis Hospice in Indianapolis, Fairbanks Hospital in Indianapolis and the Indiana Women’s Prison in Indianapolis retiring in 2000. Judy was a devout Christian and deeply spiritual person who shared her deep and abiding faith with all she came in contact with. She was an avid animal lover, enjoyed watching wildlife in nature and was a horse breeder. She enjoyed collecting antiques as well as cook books and was an excellent cook. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Everett and Martha Delores (Collett) Cowan; and infant brother, George Dale Cowan. Survivors include her husband, David L. Martin, MD whom she married June 28, 1973; seven children, Richard L. (Verna J.) Martin of Indianapolis, Randolph D. (Gretchen) Martin of Carmel, Amy E. (Jim) Betzold of Carmel, Theresa A. Martin of Indianapolis, Gregory B. (Megan) Martin of Indianapolis, Rodney L. (Andrea) Martin of Pendleton of Pendleton and Matthew D. (Amanda) Martin of Anderson; four siblings, Carolyn S. Stevens, Gary L. Cowan, Rebecca L. Parsons and Mark E. Cowan; 27 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Services at 2 p.m., Saturday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton, Indiana 46064 with Pastor Keith Wooden officiating.
