Judith A. Judy Nelson, 70, Lapel, former Hamilton County resident, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at her granddaughters residence in Lapel following a three week illness.
She was born on July 10, 1938, in Sullivan County, Indiana to Hugh and Ruth (King) Hale.
Judy had been employed for several years as a special education school bus driver for Westfield-Washington schools.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Nelson of Atlanta, five children, Mack (wife, Patty) Doane of Elwood, Roger Doane of Phoenix, AZ, Suzann (husband, Allen) Bassel of Friendship, Annessa Huddleson of Elwood, and Wendel Doane (fiance, Valarie) of Phoenix, AZ; three step-sons, Rick Nelson of Atlanta, Bob Nelson of northern Indiana, and Jeffery Nelson of Colorado; seven grandchildren, Heather Johnson, Michelle (husband, Corey) Green, Joshua Johnson, Stephen Lucas, Jennifer Lucas, Matthew Doane, and Jesse Doane; two sisters, Jody Wrath of Wisconsin, and Janet (husband, Gene) Kakasluf of Tipton; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, October 25, 2008 at her granddaughters residence, 1403 North Ford Street, Lapel with Rev. Richard Cole officiating. Burial will take place at East Union Cemetery in rural Hamilton County at a later date.
