Judith K. Vanness Sheets

Judith K. Vanness Sheets, 88, of Lapel, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Rawlins House in Pendleton following an extended illness.

She was born on April 23, 1935, in Fishersburg, Indiana to Norman Robert and Ada F. (Markle) Scott.

She was a graduate of Lapel High School.

She had previously worked in the finance department at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis and prior to that she had worked in finance at Community Bank.

She was a member of Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel. She loved her family and loved being involved in her grandchildren's activities.

Judith is survived by a son, Mitchell Vanness; three stepchildren, Rhonda (husband, Brock) Brown, Susan (husband, Tim) Banta and Brice (wife, DeLina) Sheets; and three grandchildren, Maizy, Finn and Jax.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ronnie J. Vanness in 1984; her second husband, Gayl C. Sheets on November 19, 2011; her parents; a sister, Frances Jean Brown; and three brothers, Robert E. "Bobby" Scott, Billy Ray Scott and Larry J. "Zip" Scott.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Ford Street United Methodist Church, 925 Ford Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Pastor Jill Moffett officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Bozell Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 50 East 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana 46209-4830.
