Judith K. Vanasdal, 72, Anderson, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011, at her home surrounded by family following an extended illness.
She was born on August 4, 1938, in Anderson, Indiana to Joe and Myrtle (Hopkinson) Schuyler.
She graduated from Lapel High School in 1956.
Judy was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young and had been employed at Village Management in Indianapolis for 10 years and had also worked for the former Layman Life and Don Schrader and Associates.
She was a member of the Jackson Township Extension Homemakers.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, James Vanasdal; two sons, Jeff (wife, Michelle) Vanasdal of Anderson, and Jim Vanasdal of Markleville; four grandchildren, Jeffrey and Kiley Vanasdal, and Conley Joe and Meghan Vanasdal; one sister, Barbara Tonyes of Anderson; and one brother, Steve (wife, Cheryl) Schuyler of Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jayna Vanasdal; and an infant sister, Sandra Jean.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, January 13, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Entombment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
