Juanita M. Alexander, 94, formally of Chesterfield, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Dec. 8, 2014 at her daughter’s residence in Pendleton following an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 12, 1920 in Madison IN., the daughter of the late Charles Vere and Suzannah (Temple) Hardy. She was a 1939 graduate of Anderson High School and a homemaker. Later she worked at Fort Benjamin Harrison as a pay clerk.
She had worshiped at the Chesterfield Church of God, and more recently at the Grace Baptist Church. Juanita was a devoted Christian that lived her faith by being a godly mother and grandmother. She enjoyed going to Keenagers, collecting butterflies and sea shells.
She is survived by her children; Melva (Reece) Willis of Faribault, Minn., Marilyn (Jerry) Shelton of Pendleton, Rebecca Purkey of Anderson, Michael (Cindy) Alexander of Rushville; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Alexander; a brother, William Hardy; sisters, Nellie Weston and Irene Fiedler.
Service will be 2 p.m., Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Joshua Crockett officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Thursday.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospice or Grace Baptist Church.
