Juanita Byer, 87, Anderson, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at her home following a brief illness.
She was born on June 26, 1923, in Anderson, Indiana to Luther and Martha (Seipel) Elsea.
She graduated from Anderson High School in 1942 and attended Purdue University.
Juanita was employed at one time at the Indiana University Library as well as the Anderson Public Library.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church; Madison County Legal Auxilary; Early Americana; and the Lapel Rural Garden Club. She had also served on the YWCA board in Anderson and volunteered at the Anderson Fine Arts Center.
Juanita enjoyed spending summers at her lake house on Lake Wawasee with her family and lake neighbors.
She is survived by two children, Lindsay Byer of Noblesville, and William (wife, Cindy) Byer, Jr. of Anderson; two grandchildren, Ellen E. and Martha C. Byer and their mother, Judy Byer all of Anderson; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer Lowe and Stephanie Lowe; her brother-in-law, H. E. Richardson of Anderson; and her nieces and nephews, Mary Sue Hudson, Jo Deane Smith, Robert E. Hudson, Jon S. Hudson, and Julie Shadoan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband whom she married in January of 1945 in Savannah, GA, William Byer, Sr.; one infant son, John David Byer and one sister, Martha B. Richardson.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, November 15, 2010, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel with Pastor Doug Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm Monday, November 15, 2010, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 217 East 7th Street, Lapel.
