Joyce Reeves Macmillan

Joyce Reeves MacMillan, 91, of Anderson, passed away November 17, 2018 at her home. She was born May 11, 1927 in Bloomington, the daughter of John and Marie (VanBuskirk) Reeves. She graduated from Bloomington High School and attended Olivet Nazarene University. On July 6, 1951, she married Lorne MacMillan at the Bloomington First Church of the Nazarene and together they raised their two sons, David and Ray. As a minister’s wife she and the family moved to various churches throughout Indiana, including in Marion, Muncie, Peru, Auburn, Winchester and Anderson, even for a time ministering in Toronto, Canada. She spent several winters at the Florida Holiness Campground. She always supported Lorne in his ministry, and also served her own as a Sunday school and Vacation Bible Study teacher and as president of the Nazarene Missionary Society. She loved reading, writing, traveling sewing, crocheting and singing. Mostly she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters and family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lorne MacMillan of Anderson; sons, David MacMillan and Ray MacMillan of Anderson; daughter-in-law, Sheila MacMillan of Anderson; granddaughters, Ann MacMillan, Jill (Matt) Spiess, Kylie Case, Katie MacMillan and Kristen MacMillan; great-granddaughter, Klaire Case; brothers, Chester Reeves of Lambertville, MI, John Reeves of Scottsdale, AZ, Paul Reeves of Bloomington and Jim Reeves of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Joanne Hayes of Santa Claus; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ben Reeves. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the Anderson First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Bloomington. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
