Joy Lynne Gill

Joy Lynne (Carey) Gill, 61, Anderson, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Community Hospital of Anderson. She was born on December 10, 1952, in Noblesville, Indiana to Donald and Marjoria (Sheller) Carey. She graduated from Lapel High school in 1971. Joy retired from Hamilton Southeastern Schools after driving a bus for over 21 years. She was a member of the Prairie Baptist Church and the Lapel Eagles Aerie 4323. Joy enjoyed gardening; adored her pets; and loved to spend time at their vacation home in Mexico Beach, Florida. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Tom Gill; two sons, Shane (wife, Rachel) Mills and Michael Mills of both of Perkinsville; four step-children, Tim (wife, Molly) Gill of Greenwood, Gina (husband, Paul) Staton of Franklin, Miranda Hamilton of Franklin and Britt (wife, Shawna) Gill of Lillington, NC; seventeen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna (husband, Brent) Hiday of Noblesville and Ruth (husband, Bill) Cleveland of Greenville, SC; and one brother, Lee (wife, Beverly) Carey of Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Stan Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, December 12, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
