Joy Elizabeth Hough

Joy Elizabeth (Snyder) Hough, 74, of Lapel, Indiana, passed away November 4, 2022, at her residence in Lapel following an extended illness.
She was born on July 22, 1948, in Anderson, Indiana to Myron and Helen (Fleming) Snyder.
Joy graduated from Lapel High School in 1966 and Purdue University in 1971.
She retired in 2003 from Delco Remy Division of General Motors as a journeyman electrician.
Joy attended Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel. She was an accomplished seamstress. She knitted many Christmas stockings for family. She was a math wizard and an avid reader. She also enjoyed working Sudoko puzzles, cross word puzzles, and playing Mahjong. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining for family and friends.
After retirement she moved to Madison, Indiana and transformed a hunting cabin with John into a beautiful home. In 2013 she moved back to Lapel to rekindle friendships.
Joy is survived by three step-children, Jade (Adam) Talbot of Fishers, Kendra (Dave) Schlabach of Anderson and Thomas (Tammy) Hough of Alexandria; three nephews, Chris (Tracy) Snyder, Cameron (Marcy) and Clayton (Nicki) Coomer; a niece, Brittany Snyder; a brother, Don (Kelly) Snyder of Lapel; a sister, Nancy (Gary) Coomer of Springboro, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Maxwell, Shaina, and Adam Grbic , Katie Talbot, David, Jonathan, and Daniel Schlabach, and Zachary, Brailyn, and Timothy Hough. She is also survived by many cousins, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband whom she married in 1994, John R. Hough, and her brother, Jeff Snyder.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Ford Street United Methodist Church, 925 Ford Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Rev. Glenn Knepp officiating.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lapel American Legion Post 212, Ladies Auxiliary or Ford Street United Methodist Church.
Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home 1010 N. Main St. Lapel, Indiana has been entrusted with the services for Joy.
