Joseph William Joe Duganich, 91, Anderson, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2011, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born on July 25, 1920, in Noblesville, Indiana to Joseph and Bessie (Essex) Duganich.
He was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Force and served in the Pacific Theater where he flew 64 combat missions.
Joe was a co-founder of Institutional Products, Inc. in Indianapolis and retired in 2007 as its president.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel and had served on many committees at the church; a life member and past master of the Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625; life member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis; past worthy patron of the former Lapel Order of Eastern Star Chapter 457; life member of the Lapel American Legion Post 212; and a life member of the Anderson Elks Lodge
He is survived by wife of 66 years, Betty (McDonald) Duganich; one daughter, Diane Jo (husband, John) Hughes of La Porte; two grandsons, David Hughes of La Porte, and Michael Hughes of Urbana, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John William Duganich; and six sisters, Elizabeth Randall, Frances Ballinger, Elsie Snead, Kathryn Noble, Barbara Scherer, and Ginger Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Doug Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Lapel American Legion.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel and a masonic memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm.
