Joseph S. Workman

Joseph S. Workman, 99, Anderson, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008, at Community Hospital of Anderson following a brief illness.
He was born on November 5, 1908, in Robbins, Tennessee to Spencer and Lula (Chaney) Workman.
He graduated from Mooresville High School in 1929 and attended General Motors Tech.
Joseph retired from Guide Lamp after over forty years of employment.
He was a member of Elm Grove Christian Church, and UAW Local 663
He is survived by his wife, Constance (Durant) Workman; three children, Dixie S. (husband, Floyd) Whitehouse of Crown Point, Barbara Workman of Frankton, and Bill (wife, Anna) Workman of Anderson; three step-children, Jerry (wife, Barbara) Durant of Anderson, Willis (wife, Evelyn) Durant of Anderson, and Wilbur (wife, Gail) Durant of Livingston, TN; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by, his parents; his first wife, Ruth Kelley Workman; and one brother, Carl Workman.
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Michael Whiteman officiating. Burial will follow in the K. of P. and I. O. O. F. Cemetery, Frankton.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Elm Grove Christian Church .
