Joseph Kevin Turner

Joseph Kevin Turner, 56, Anderson, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Community Hospital of Anderson following a sudden illness. He was born on July 19, 1957, in Noblesville, Indiana to Joseph and Faye (Huffman) Turner. He graduated from Lapel High School in 1975. Kevin was owner and operator of Turner Excavating for most of his life and recent manager of Canvasback Construction, LLC. He was an avid collector of knives, guns, and rocks. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; riding his motorcycle; being outdoors; and was a fan of sprint car racing. He is survived by his fiance, Nancy Mitchell of Elwood; three children, Joseph Matthew (wife, Jenny) Turner of Middletown, Stephanie (husband, Steve) Tipps of Lapel, and Kelly Turner (fiance, Greg Buck) of Columbus, OH; two grandchildren, Samantha and Jamison Tipps; his mother, Faye Turner of Anderson; and one sister, Connie (husband, David) Baughman of Zion, IL. He was preceded in death by his father. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Dan Sellers officiating. Burial will follow in Perkinsville Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Lapel Stony Creek Township Fire Territory, P. O. Box 792, Lapel, Indiana 46051-0792.
