Joseph C. Orbik, Sr., 90, a lifelong resident of Anderson, passed away on January 20, 2021 at Ascension St. Vincent’s Hospital. Joseph was born on November 30, 1930 to Stanley W. and Stella H. (Sokolowski) Orbik. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, and a member of the Polish Club. In 1953, Joseph joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. After the war, Joseph married his wife Vivian J. Keith. He also was a devoted employee of General Motors for forty-three years, and retired in 1996. Joseph is survived by his sons: Stephen, Thomas and Joseph (Amanda) Orbik, Jr.; six grandchildren: Natasha Orbik, Vivian Orbik, Joseph Orbik, III, Noah Boatner and Michael Stewart and Hannah Orbik; great grandson, Joseph Orbik, IV; brothers; Lenard and Richard (Andrea) Orbik. Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, wife Vivian; six sisters: Eleanor Flowers, Irene Fox, Susie Wehlage, Genivive Minnick, Carolyn Leffingwell, Martha “Marge” Hoagland; three brothers: Frank, Andrew and Carol Orbik. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1115 Pearl Street on Tuesday January 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Father David Hellmann officiating. Interment following at St Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic those attending services are asked to wear a mask and observe social distancing.
