Jon Scott Johnson

January 30, 1962 — March 8, 2015

Jon Scott Johnson, 53, Anderson, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015, at his home following an extended battle with cancer. He was born on January 30, 1962, in Detroit, Michigan to Walter and Annalue (Garner) Johnson. He graduated from Hamilton Southeastern High School in 1981 and served as a Seabee in the U. S. Navy. Jon had been employed by DLZ Corporation of South Bend where he had worked as a survey crew chief and before that for Gove Associates for many years. He was a member of the Madison County Emergency Management Agency and he volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. Jon is survived by his mother, Annalue Johnson of Anderson; his father, Walter Johnson of Tampa, FL; one brother, Todd (wife, Laura) Johnson of Ozark, MO; a niece, Alexandra Johnson; a nephew, Jacob Johnson; an aunt, Marjorie Sue Snideman; and several cousins. He was preaceeded in death by an aunt, Doris Jean Young. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, March 11, 2015, Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, with Rev. Gina Kirkland officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. IN lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Madison County Emergency Management Agency, New Horizons, or Habitat for Humanity.
