Jon Richard Noggle

Jon Richard Noggle, 75, Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis following a brief illness.
He was born on August 4, 1943, in Anderson to Paul Thomas and Marian Frances (Tescher) Noggle.
Jon was graduated from Lapel High School in 1961. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Anderson College and a Master of Arts in Education from Ball State University.
He retired in 1998 from South Madison Schools in Pendleton.
Jon was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Indianapolis; the Indiana Gospel Music Association; the United States Auto Club; the Indianapolis 500 Oldtimers Association; the Hoosier Auto Racing Fans; and the Indiana Diabetes Association.
He was active in the Young Republicans and had served as Madison County chairman. Jon was also active in local politics and had served as a member of the Lapel Town Council and was a national convention participant.
Jon enjoyed traveling and had visited 28 countries and 48 states. He enjoyed history; collecting political buttons; auto racing as he had attended 56 Indianapolis 500 races as well as countless racetracks throughout the United States; 1950s cars; and keeping track of his high school classmates. He listened to all types of music, especially oldies.
Jon received many honors including National Young Republican Gold Hardcharger Award; Outstanding Male Young Republican of Indiana; Chairman of Outstanding Young Republican District of Indiana; Outstanding Young Men of America; White House Fellow Nominee; Editorial Board of American Biographical Institute-Community Leaders and Noteworthy Americans; Notable Americans; American Diabetes AssociationIndiana Affiliate Outstanding Volunteer; and Eli Lilly Foundation 50-Year Gold Medal.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Vivian Elaine (Harlan); two daughters, Andrea Dawn Miller of Anderson and Julie Renee (Jacob) Brown of Pendleton; Vivians son, Paul (Tania) Lattimore and daughter-in-law, Robin (Jason) Springfield both of Indianapolis; five granddaughters, Kelsi and Haley Griffard, Felicia, Skyelar, and Emma Lattimore; a brother, Jim (Debbie) Noggle of Noblesville; and several nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Randy Miller; and Vivians son, Rick Lattimore.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Northside Baptist Church, 3021 East 71st Street, Indianapolis, Indiana with Dr. Eric Martin and Rev. John Reeder officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, October 22, 2018, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
