John William “Johnny Bill” Owens, 65, of Pendleton passed away February 25, 2020 at his home after a short illness.He was born August 23, 1954 in Anderson, Indiana and was a lifelong Huntsville resident.Johnny Bill retired from the Town of Pendleton in 2014 where he had been employed since 1976. He also owned and operated JB’s Bait and Tackle in Huntsville for several years.Johnny Bill was a 1972 graduate of Pendleton High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially activities with his grandkids. Johnny Bill also served as a coach of youth baseball, softball and football.Survivors include his wife, Kristi (Maxwell) Owens whom he married December 19, 1975; three children, Nathon John Owens, Brandon William (Ashley) Owens and Julie (Justin) Williams all of Pendleton; sister, Julie (Dannie) Walker of Gulfport, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Kase Owens, Kemper Owens, Jobie Owens, Bennett Owens, Kennedy Williams and Owen Williams; niece, Molly Holliman and nephew, Kameron Walker.He was preceded in death by his father, John William Owens, Jr.; mother, Marian R. (Hart) Wood; step-father, Bill Wood; and infant sister, Nancy Lynn Owens.A celebration of life service will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton, Indiana 46064 with Pastor Claude Creel officiating. Visitation from 12 to 5 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Lahm Chapel.Memorial contributions may be made to “Pendleton Lions Club, Fishing Derby” c/o Pendleton Lions Club, PO Box 322, Pendleton, IN 46064.
