John Everitt, 93 of Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Saint Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital following an extended illness. He was born on February 10, 1923, in Lapel, Indiana, to Earl and Odessa (Mitchell) Everitt.
John graduated in 1941 from Lapel High School and he was a U. S. Army veteran of WWII.
He worked as a farmer until his retirement in1986. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church since 1937.
John enjoyed farming, traveling, and spending winters in Venice, Florida.
John is survived by his wife of 33 years, Joan (Wyant) Everitt; three children, Bonnie (husband, Truman) Miller of Lapel, Charlene (husband, J. D.) Hummel of Anderson and Marshall (wife, Durenda) Everitt of Anderson; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two step-children, Bill (wife, Debbie) Wolfe, and Sue (husband, John) Hersberger; five step-grandchildren; a brother Robert (wife, Sharon) Everitt of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews including Karen Aynes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 39 years, Marthena "Cotton"; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Carl Holloway
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 16, 2017, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 Main North Street, Lapel with Pastor Dewey Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home.
