John Thomas Jessup, 83, of Knightstown, passed away on March 18, 2019 at Golden Living Brandywine in Greenfield. He was born on July 22, 1935 in Shirley to the late Lowell and Catherine (Compton) Jessup. John served his country in the Army. He was a farmer and retired from Borg Warner as a machine operator after 42 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion-Knightstown. John was an avid NASCAR and Colts fan. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ida (Bowling) Jessup; children, Tom (Kim) Jessup of Florida, Todd (Angela) Jessup of Spiceland, Ted Jessup of New Castle; grandchildren, Gavin, Garrett, Grant, Griffin, Gracin, Megan, Stefani, James, Justin and Travis; siblings, Eleanor (Don) Painter, Joy (Tim) Woodruff, Sara Broadwater, Nancy (Jim) Pennington, Max Jessup, and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings. A Celebration of Life Open House will be held on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Wilkinson Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
