John J Brandenburg

John J. Brandenburg, 73, of Pendleton, Indiana, passed away on October 23, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family, after battling Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis for several years. He was born February 3, 1946 in Anderson, Indiana to John E. Brandenburg and Kathryn E. (Boatman) Webb.He graduated from Pendleton High School in 1965. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1965-1967, having served in the Vietnam War.He was employed at Nicholson File, in Anderson from 1965-1972. He then went to work at General Motors (Delphi) in Anderson in 1972, retiring in 2002 with 30 years of service.He was a member of Madison Lodge #44 F & AM, Pendleton since 1977. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #117, Pendleton, and a life time member of AMVETS Post #26, Pendleton.He was an avid NASCAR fan and a lover of sports, a loving husband, father and Papaw, and friend to many.He is survived by his soul mate of 51 years, Susan K. (Curless) Brandenburg whom he married August 31, 1968; daughter Leigh A. (David) Barrett; a son Shane A. Brandenburg; granddaughters Carson N. Barrett and Kendall A. Barrett; sister Joyce D. Rayl, half sister Yvonne (Bonnie) Burroughs; niece Deidre L. (Gordon) Dorsey, nephews Jim (Janet) Rayl, Joe Hill and Kerry (Laurie) Hill; brother-in-law, Herman Doster, a special great nephew Kevan G. (Caroline) Dorsey, and several great nephews, great nieces, cousins, and numerous friends.He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and step father Walter T. Webb, paternal grandparents, Burris and Eva Brandenburg, maternal grandparents, Frances and Pealey Girt, sister Judith K. Doster, nephew Richard L. Hill and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.Services to celebrate the life of John will be at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory- Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State Street, Pendleton, IN 46064, on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 10:30 A.M.
