Mr. John E. Hodson

John was born to the late Ross and Catherine (Gunn) Hodson on October 15, 1917. He passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016. He married the love of his life Wanda (Farlow) on June 26, 1930. They were married 57 years until Wanda’s death in 1995. They had three children, John E. Hodson, Jerry L. (wife, Marleen) Hodson, and Sandra Kay. The family wishes to thank the staff at Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield and also Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to John. Also a special thank you to Wendell Clark, John’s roommate at Miller’s, for watching over John. John worked at Guide Lamp for many years where he was active in United Auto Workers Local 663. He held many positions including chairman of the Pension Committee, Blood Bank, and the recreation committee. He also served as treasurer, vice-president for two terms, and president for two terms. Besides being a loving husband & father, he was also very active in community affairs. He served many years on the Lay Advisory Board of St. John’s Hospital, Board of Trustees at Community Hospital, Salvation Army Board, and Anderson Community School Board. He was a member of the Solar Masonic Lodge. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 127, United Senior Action & the Madison County Shrine Club. Besides his wife, Wanda and his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Sandra Kay; and grandson, Jeffery Hodson. Along with his sons, he is survived by four grandkids; ten great grandkids; and nine great-great grandkids. Services will be at Noon Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. Saturday, until time of services at the funeral home.
