John E. Fatzinger

John E. Fatzinger, 78, Anderson, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born on February 22, 1932, in Anderson, Indiana to Joseph and Sarah (Kuhns) Fatzinger.
He graduated from Wilkinson High School in 1950. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
John retired in 1999 from the former Delco Remy division of General Motors after 49 years as a manufacturing engineer.
He was a member of the East Lynn Christian Church; the Green Valley Baptist Church; Society of Manufacturing Engineers; Green Valley Elks Club; Society of Plastics Engineers; American National Standards Safety Board; Chairman of B-11-7 Committee; and he had served on the South Madison Community School Board for 12 years
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyliss (Teeters) Fatzinger; two daughters, Shirley Wells of Fishers, and Susan (husband, Jim) Monroe of Carmel; six grandchildren, Tim and Jim Flesher both of Louisville, KY, Gail (husband, Rob) Thatcher of Savannah, GA, David and Thomas Motsinger both stationed at Fort Hood, TX, and Gina Motsinger of Fishers; eight great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandson; one brother, James L. (wife, Susan) Fatzinger of Muncie; one sister, Annabelle (husband, Leon) Wilson of Wilkinson; several nieces and nephews; and a son-in-law, Dan Outland of Lousiville, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Brenda Outland; and one sister, Marilyn Lading.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Susan Cameron officiating. Burial will follow in Mendon Cemetery, Pendleton.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, August 27, 2010, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
