John David Hersberger, 74, Winchester, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born on February 12, 1934, in Madison County, Indiana to Tilghman and Villie (Hinton) Hersberger.
He graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1952.
John retired from the former Delco Remy in Anderson in 1984 after 30 years of employment. He also farmed his family farm in rural Ridgeville.
He attended the Congregational Christian Church at Five Points.
He is survived by his wife, Sue (Ridgeway) Hersberger; two children, Lisa Swingley of Winchester and Greg (wife, Diane) Hersberger of Portland; one brother, Morris (wife, Jean) Hersberger of Lapel; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jay Hersberger and Paul Hersberger; and one sister, Martha Lees.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm Monday, September 8, 2008, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Steve Conner officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday, September 8, 2008, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
An additional memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at the Congregational Christian Church at Five Points with Rev. Steve Conner officiating private family burial will take place at Weimer Cemetery in Saratoga at a later date.
An additional visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at the Congregational Christian Church at Five Points.
