Mr. John Charles Weist

John “Jack” Charles Weist, 77, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019. He was born October 16, 1941, in Muncie to the late Donald L. & Marjorie (Lacy) Weist. He graduated from Ball State University. Jack retired from the Pendleton Correctional Facility as Deputy Warden, having worked there for over 30 years. He had also been the Assistant Chief of Markleville Police Department for 23 years. He was a member of Lions Club International and served as Past District Governor from 2009-2010. He was Deacon at East Christian Church in Markleville, member of Markleville AmVets, and past Mason. He was past president of the US Deputy Warden Association and served as a board member for many years. He was also a current board member of the Fall Creek Regional Waste District. Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jane (Irwin) Weist; sons, Samuel (wife, Racheal) Weist & Benjamin (wife, Margaret) Weist; grandchildren, Sammy, Andrew, Anna, Abby, Eli, Ben, Danielle, Jenny, & Ashley Weist; and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Betsy Weist. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January at Condo & St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Wilkinson. Burial will be at Harlan Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lion’s Cancer Control Fund, 535 Barnhill Drive, RT 041, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
