John C. Young, Sr.

John C. Young, Sr. 76, Lapel, passed away Monday, May 18, 2009, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis.
He was born on July 8, 1932, in Akron, Indiana to Walter and Ruth Young, Sr.
John retired in 1973 from the U. S. Army after serving 22 years.
He was a member of the Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625; the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis; Noblesville Order of Eastern Star Radiant Chapter 200 where he was a past patron; Fortville American Legion Post 391; a lifetime member of the Fortville V. F. W. 6904; and a charter member of the Pendleton Am. Vet 25
He is survived by his wife, Ella Mae (Kuhn) Young; two children, Teresa K. (husband, Robert) Dimmick of Tulsa, OK; and John "J. C." (wife, Kathy) Young, Jr. of Lapel; five grandchildren, Kevin Barnett, Greg Barnett, Jennifer Dimmick, L. J. Young, III, and Daniel Young; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Donna Pickard of Indianapolis, .
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria Young.
Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Friday, May 22, 2009, at Prairie Baptist Church in rural Noblesville with Pastor Robert Dimmick officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Memorial Cemetery, Noblesville where military graveside rites will be held.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Order of Eastern Star and Masonic Memorial services will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday
Memorial contributions may be made to Prairie Baptist Church, 14790 East 206th Street, Noblesville, Indiana 46060.
