PENDLETON- John B. Stephenson, 85, passed away June 11, 2022 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born May 11, 1937 in Madison Co., Indiana and was a lifelong Pendleton resident.
John was a farmer and retired from Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis as a job setter following 32 years of service. He also served as a Bus Driver for South Madison Community Schools.
John was a 1955 graduate of Pendleton High School and was a member of Pendleton Christian Church. He was a horse trainer and member of the United States Trotting Association.
Survivors include five children, David A. (Jacqueline) Stephenson of Pendleton, Lou Ann (Brian) Deel of Pendleton, Donna Jo (Greg) Phillippe of Columbia, Missouri, Mike D. (Ann) Stephenson of Pendleton and Teresa (Jim) Goffinet of Pendleton; siblings, Tom (Kathy) Stephenson, Nancy Campbell and Norma (George) Gasparovic all of Pendleton; 17 grandchildren, Aaron Stephenson and Katie of Georgia, Sheri and Darin Johnson of Maryland, Monica and Matt Bohnert of Washington State, Donna Stephenson of Pendleton, Elliott Stapleton of Alabama, John Paul and Rene Stapleton of Anderson, Kyle Wright of Colorado, Grant Phillipe and Mandi, Drew Phillippe and Alex Phillippe all of Missouri, Daniel Stephenson of Tennessee, Cassie Stephenson of Pendleton and Cody Stephenson and Ashley of Ingalls, Megan Hardenbrook of Markleville, Mandi Baldwin and Zach of Pendleton, Mallory Nichols and Henry of Anderson and Markus and Kyrstin Goffinet of Ellettsville; 26 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Laura May (Boston) Stephenson; his wife, D. Nadine (King) Stephenson whom he married February 14, 1956 and passed away December 26, 2013; sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Larry Barkdull; and brother-in-law, Luther “Bud” Campbell.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2022 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton with Pastor Michael Canada officiating. Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery, Pendleton.
Visitation from 3 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.
