John Allen Samuels

John Samuels, 69, of Anderson, passed away April 23, 2019 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. John was born December 1, 1949, in Anderson, the son of the late Jack and Mildred Samuels and was a lifelong Anderson resident. John was the co-owner of S & H Trucking Company, a business that he was passionate about building and running. He was family oriented, had a great sense of humor, treated everyone fairly and honestly, and was well liked by everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Judith Samuels; children, Bob (Diana) Shirley, Rick (Maria) Shirley, Tim Shirley, Beth (John) Lephew, and Becky (Mike) Webb; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Jo Anna Myers; several nieces and nephews; and friends, Jeff and Patty Huntzinger and Amos Taylor. John was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Janice Samuels; brother, Jim Samuels; sister, Connie Samuels; and friend, Randy Pokerzinski. A celebration of John’s life will be 7 p.m., Tuesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, with Amos Taylor officiating. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
