John Alden Randall, Jr.

July 17, 1925 — December 15, 2008

John Alden Randall, Jr., 83, Pendleton, passed away Monday, December 15, 2008, at Saint Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness.
He was born on July 17, 1925, in Madison County, Indiana to John and Emma (Coahran) Randall, Sr.
He graduated from Pendleton High School in 1943 and received a bachelors degree in Ag Econ and a masters degree in Extension Education both from Purdue University.
John retired in 1985 from Purdue University as an ag extension agent. He then returned to manage his family farm, Randallane, Inc.
He attended Trinity Life Center and was a member of the Pendleton Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and was active in the Rotary International. He had been on the Walk to Emmaus and was a member and past president of the Indiana Corn Growers Association. John served on the Madison County Board of Zoning Appeals and the Madison County Planning Commission. He was also a very active advocate for soil and water conservation.
He is survived by three children, John A. (wife, Marsha) Randall, III of Hoagland, Lydia (Randall) (husband, Jim) Strong of West Lafayette, and Mark Randall of Pendleton; one brother, Bill (wife, Virginia) Randall of Arizona; one sister, Patricia Peek of Texas; four grandchildren, Christina Randall of Avon, Klarisa Catron and Jonathan Catron both of Hoagland, and Matthew Strong of West Lafayette; and one great-granddaughter, Jazmyn Simpson of Avon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Paul Stanley Randall; and three grandchildren, Megan Nicole Randall, Elizabeth Renee Randall, and John Alden Randall, IV.
A private interment service will be held at 5:00 pm Sunday, December 21, 2008, at Randallane, Inc. with Pastor Doug Barton officiating.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, December 21, 2008, at Trinity Life Center, 5900 South State Road 13, Pendleton.
