John A. Mcilwain

John A. McIlwain, 60, of Indianapolis, passed away December 28, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Anderson on December 16, 1957. He graduated from Anderson High School and had lived in Indianapolis most of his life. He had worked at Miller Veneers in Indianapolis. He enjoyed collecting Basketball and Baseball cards, gardening and sports cars. He is survived by his adoptive mother, Maxine McIlwain; his brothers and sisters, Suzanne Dines, Jenny Kottler, Dan Morrow, Kathy Flanigan, Donna Rogers, Patty Grizzle, Jim Hepfer, Anna Johnson, David McIlwain and Marilyn Stump; several nieces and nephews; and also was a father figure to a special nephew, Dewane Fleener. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene McIlwain, Beulah Leach and Keith Hepfer; two brothers, Michael Stapleton and Keith Hepfer, Jr. and nephew, Patrick Flanigan. Services will be 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. Mike Weber officiating.
