John A. Forney, Jr.

Rev. John A. Forney, Jr., 77, Lapel, passed away Friday April 9, 2004 at Saint John's Health System Anderson, after a sudden illness. He was born on August 15, 1926 in Indianapolis, Indiana to John and Olive (Ormsby) Forney. He served as pastor at Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Camby, Indiana, First Baptist Church in Cloverdale, and Community Baptist Church in Greencastle. He attended Victory Baptist Church in Anderson. He was a veteran of the US Navy, and US Marine Corps. He was a printer for the Best Lock Corp. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Louise (Edwards) Forney; four children, daughter, Tressa (husband, Larry) Shepherd of Pendleton, son, Paul (wife, Lorenda) Forney of Trenton, GA. , son, Matthew (wife, Michelle) Forney of Anderson; six grandchildren, Scott (wife, Amy) Shepherd of Lapel, Andy (wife, Deb) Shepherd of Lapel, Julie (husband, Ed) Achenbach of Lapel, Lisa (husband, Patrick) Gibson of Chattanooga, TN., Bradley Forney of Anderson, and Nicholas Forney of Anderson; eleven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Maxine (husband Joe) Kamleiter of Florida, Rita Jean Lewis of Georgia, Bonnie Vada Lile of Texas, and Charna (husband Wayne) Cox of Indianapolis; and serveral nieces and nephews. Services will be held 10:30 AM Monday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel, with Rev Ken King officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery in Lapel. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. The family request that memorial contributions be given to Victory Baptist Church, 4301 Scatterfield Rd. Anderson, Indiana 46013-2630
