Joe Allan Crouch

October 14, 1942 — March 13, 2019

Joe Allan Crouch, 76, of Anderson, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 after a three-year battle with autonomic instability. He was born October 14, 1942, in Warsaw to the late Charles & Helen (Gaskill) Crouch. Joe attended grade school and high school in Pierceton where he was active in basketball and track. He graduated with Honors from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1966 and Master of Arts in 1972. He began student teaching at Madison Heights Junior High in 1966 and continued teaching with Anderson Community School Corporation until he retired from then Anderson High School in 2004 after 38 years as a dedicated health, PE and Driver’s Ed teacher. After retirement, Joe continued to teach Driver’s Ed at The Driving Center until the fall of 2018. Joe loved traveling to Florida, a childhood tradition, spending Christmas in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. He, along with his wife and children, continued visiting Florida yearly. Joe was a devoted husband and father; he found complete fulfillment in his roles with his family and the depth of loss felt in his passing is indescribable. He is survived by his loving wife, Bobbi (Jackson) Crouch; children, Janel Bantz (fiancé, Cole Keesling) and Kevin (wife, Lindsay) Crouch; grandchildren, Luke Bantz, Carter Bantz, Ethan Crouch and grandson on the way; sister, Janet Mishler; sister-in-law, Patty Crouch, mother-in-law, Dorothy Jackson; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws, Millie (husband, Danny) Warrum, Margy Brow, Juliann (husband, Bill) Williams and John (wife, Tina) Jackson; several nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Crouch; father-in-law, Robert Jackson; and brother-in-law, Mike Brow. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 20th at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor P.T. Morgan officiating. Visitation to follow the celebration. In lieu of flowers, Joe asks you to pay it forward. A special thanks to the St. Vincent Hospice Group; Natasha, Kelli, Vickie and Pam, who provided such loving care and kindness to our entire family and especially Joe. We are eternally grateful.
