PENDLETON- Joanna Mae Somers, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 22, 2020.Joanna was born on July 18, 1934 in Pendleton and was a lifelong resident.She retired from the Lawrence Township Community Schools as a guidance counselor.Joanna was a Christian as well as a beloved friend and mentor to many. As someone who loved flowers and was an avid gardener, she enjoyed being a member of the Pendleton Garden Club. Joanna was an Indiana University graduate and a huge IU Hoosiers and Bobby Knight fan.Survivors include nieces, Beth Ann Donovan (Charles “Chuck”) of Fishers and Pamela J. Price (Jeff) of Chuluota Florida. In addition, she is survived by a nephew, Steven R. Highley of Yorktown, Indiana; three great nieces, Lauren Price of Chuluota, Florida, April Highley of Union City, Indiana and Ashlee Highley of Yorktown, Indiana; two great nephews, Nicholas Price of Denver, Colorado and Jackson Price of Chuluota, Florida; as well as two great great nieces, Selah Highley and Emma Highley; and great great nephew, Daymon Highley.She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Uva (Castle) Somers; her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Barbara Somers; her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Walter R. and Barbara Somers; her niece, Wendy R. Highley; and great nephew, Graham S.
