Joan Elizabeth White, 76, Noblesville, passed away Friday, March 21, 2008, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born on January 28, 1932, in Paragould, Arkansas to John and Blanche (Robertson) Sylar.
She graduated from Paragould High School in 1950 and she received a masters in special education in 1986 from Butler University.
Joan retired from Tipton Community Schools in 1996 as a special education teacher and then substitute taught in several Hamilton County schools.
She was a member of Prairie Baptist Church, the Women's Mission Circle, and she taught children's Sunday school for many years.
She is survived by her husband, George P. White, whom she married June 11, 1950 in Paragould, Arkansas; three sons, Perry (wife, Gail) White of Conyers, GA, Chuck (wife, Rhonda) White of Louisville, KY, and Greg (wife, Tami) White of Anderson; two granddaughters, Rebecca and Kelli White; two step-grandchildren, Chris (wife, Tiffany) McDaniel and Natasha McDaniel; three step-great-grandchildren, Jakob, Emily, and Kinsey McDaniel.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday at Prairie Baptist Church in rural Noblesville with Rev. Don Grollimund, Rev. Marlin Savidge, and Rev. Bob Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Memorial Cemetery, Noblesville.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
