Joab I. "Joe" Castor, 92, Lapel, passed away Sunday July 6, 2003, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on September 19, 1910, in Lapel, Indiana to Ernest and Rose (McDole) Castor. He was a Lapel High School graduate and retired from the former Cascadden's Grocery in Lapel after 39 years of employment. He also had worked as a custodian at the Lapel Public Library. He was a 79 year member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and a 58 year member of the Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625. He is survived by a daughter, Nancy (husband, Gene) Burris of Anderson; two grandchildren, Mike Burris of Glendale, CA, and Lisa France of Anderson; three great grandchildren, Brandon France, Felicia France, and John France; and his niece's husband, Bill French of Lapel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances L. (Gatewood) Castor in 1996; his parents; one sister, Margaret Barker; and two nieces, Velma Barker and Iris French. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel with Rev.s Evan Lash and Neal Brown officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery in Lapel. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 Tuesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Masonic Memorial rites will be conducted at 8:00 PM Tuesday by the Lapel Masonic Lodge at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 606, Lapel, Indiana 46051-0606 or the Community VNA Hospice, 9894 East 121st Street, Fishers, Indiana 46038.
