Jo Ann (Hanlon) Gardner had her children at her side when she went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 29. Jo Ann was born September 14, 1944, in Boone County, Indiana, to Charles Louis Hanlon and Margaret Johanna (Wiley). She had enjoyed residency in Anderson since 1962, graduating from Madison Heights High School. A homemaker for many years, she worked at MCL Cafeteria for 25 years as cashier retiring in 2008. She is survived by children Karen “K.C.”, Lisa and Nicholas, and special dogs, Petey and Carly. Her sisters include Janie Lamb of Cicero, Susan Henning of Georgetown, Texas, Barb Chambers of Anderson, Pat Hanlon of Anderson, and Marty Hanlon of Alexandria, and her brother Ed Hanlon of Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Carl Wiley Hanlon. Jo Ann was Roman Catholic and enjoyed attending Mass in both Muncie and Anderson. She enjoyed crafting, The Bold and The Beautiful, YouTube, Pinterest, online games, and reading. She loved to sing little ditties and give silly nicknames. She also enjoyed watching many kinds of animals. Many people through the years expressed that they had wished she was their mother. Special thanks to the staff of Community Hospital and Bethany Pointe for their care. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church with Monsignor Robert Sell, III officiating. Visitation will be 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. There will also be a visitation at 10:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m. Monday at the Annex at St. Mary Catholic Church. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary Church in Anderson asking for a Mass in her memory.
