Jimmie R. Cunningham

Jimmie R. "Jim" Cunningham, 88, Anderson, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness.

He was born November 28, 1935, in Anderson, Indiana, to Gratton E. "The General" and Dortha Florence (Hartzell) Cunningham.

He was a 1953 graduate of Frankton High School. He served his country in the United States military. He was manager and COO of UPS in Indianapolis.

He was a member of Elm Grove Christian Church. He loved airplanes and was a licensed pilot. He enjoyed traveling and fishing. He loved his family dearly.

Jimmie is survived by his son, Brett Cunningham; two stepchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Berryman and Carrie (Heath) Burton; a sister-in-law, Anne Cunningham; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife whom he married June 9, 1957, Druzella (Dru) Cunningham; his second wife, Stephanie S. (Vermillion) Cunningham; his parents; two brothers, Robert Haldon "Bob" Cunningham and Jon Cunningham; ; a sister, Dottie Uldine Fisher; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Cunningham; and a brother-in-law, Bob Fisher.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Bozell Funeral Homes, Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Rev. Gary Klinger officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery in Anderson. 

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
