Jim Yates, 66, a resident of Anderson, passed away Oct 10, 2018 at Community Hospital Anderson. Jim was born, May 21, 1952, in Hartford City, the son of Alex and Betty Yates. Jim was the owner of Signs and Designs Inc, where he was a sign maker for over 30 years. His business being ran in Muncie and Shelbyville. Jim was a talented individual. He made signs, he taught himself to play the guitar, he sang, he produced beautiful stain glass windows, and was a woodworker. He is survived by his wife, Debra Yates; his children, Jayme (Robert) Shaffer, LaTisha (Travis) Spice, Candice (Jeremy) Reese, Justin (Julia) Armstrong; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Patsy (Mike) Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Marjie Underwood and Suzie VanAuken. A celebration of life service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. Lola Wolfe officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
