Jim Casey

Jim Casey, 88, of Anderson, passed away on August 21, 2019 at Community Hospital of Anderson following a sudden illness. He was born on January 23, 1931 in Anderson and was reared by his grandmother, Nona White. He lived in Anderson his entire life, graduating from Anderson High School. On October 15, 1949 he and Gerry Thornberry were wed by Rev. Franklin at the Noble Street Methodist Church in Anderson. He retired from Guide Lamp in 1989, after 38 years of service. Jim loved to hunt, fish and play golf, and he was passionate about Indiana University athletics. In addition to his loving wife, Gerry, he is survived by his sons, Jeffrey (Jane) Casey of Westfield and Jay (Lisa) Casey of Noblesville; daughters, Cristy Giddens of Indianapolis and Carla Jones of Fishers; grandchildren, Chad (Molly) Giddens, Emily (Jason) Beck, Jarrett (Sarah) Casey, Linzi Jones, Donnie (Andrea) Jones, Jill (Darrell) Scott and Joey Casey; and five great-grandchildren. As per Jim’s wishes there will be no public visitation or services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anderson Police Department K-9 Fund, 1040 Main St., Anderson, IN 46016.
